Symptoms

Pneumonia in cats is certainly noticeable as your feline will appear highly ill. He will stop eating and drinking which can lead to dehydration, a potentially serious condition. As the disease advances, your cat will have breathing difficulty. Some cats also institute a fever.

Treatment

As mentioned earlier, cat pneumonia is caused by bacteria. Therefore, treatment involves the use of antibiotics. It's important not to terminate this medication too soon or the bacteria may come to be resistant. As you already know, some cats with this condition palpate trouble breathing. These cats will need to be in case, granted with supplemental oxygen.

When your cat goes back home with you from the vet, there are a few things you can do to make him more comfortable. Make sure he has a warm, dry place to rest. If you can, you should also be a humidifier in the room. You will also need to prevent your cat from exercising too hard, or he may palpate more trouble breathing.

What to Do When Your Dog Or Cat Won't Eat

Your dog won't eat. Or your cat is a picky eater. So what on earth do you do?

First, a caveat. No animal will willingly starve itself. But all the time have your pet seen by a vet when there's a turn in behavior. You need to rule out illness before embarking on solving a pet's eating problem. Be sure to check for a bad tooth as this is often overlooked as a cause of eating issues. The second caveat: Eating problems can be complicated and the tips offered here are simplistic. I offer them with 30 years of experience as a dog owner, breeder, handler and fancier in the world of dogs, but you should discuss them with your vet to see if any are a plausible remedy for your pet's situation.

Lung Aspiration

We'll start with dogs, and assuming that your dog is salutary but not a good eater, here are some inherent reasons why and ideas for fixing it.

If you feed your dog treats while the day, stop. You want your dog hungry at meal times. If your dog is a show dog, remember that bait should be offered in Tiny pieces, it's not meant to be dinner. When it comes to meals, put the dog's food bowl on the floor, give her 10 minutes to eat it, and if it isn't touched, pick it up and put it away. Don't feed again until the next meal, and resist the temptation to give treats. Do this for a whole week because what you're doing here is behavior modification. Remember, a salutary dog won't starve itself to death, but a stubborn, salutary dog could modify Your behavior if you cave in.

If you turn pet foods frequently, stop. Frequent diet changes can generate a finicky eater. The dog learns to "holdout" to see what will be offered next. When you find a nutritious diet your pet will eat, stay with it. If you Must turn the pet's diet, do it moderately over a two week period. Add a small number of the new diet to the old food, and each day, increase the number of the new feed while decreasing the number of the current food. This gradual turn will help forestall diarrhea, vomiting and finicky eating.

With picky eaters, it's important to feed a "super premium" brand of dog food. These foods cost a exiguous more and are made with best ingredients, but they are nutritionally dense. This means that your dog is no ifs ands or buts eating less in quantity than the cheaper brands bought at grocery stores (these foods have the nutritional value of bark), but because there are more "calories per cup" in a excellent food, they're no ifs ands or buts getting more nutrition. Look for brands such as Merrick's "Grammy's Pot Pie" (canned food), California Natural, Prarie, Canidae, Flint River, Nutro, Wellness, Eagle Pack Holistic or Nutrisource.

Mixing kibble with a small number of canned dog food and water will also make it enticing. This next part is important: The single most natural way to increase a pet's appetite is to warm their food because it increases the smell and makes it more appetizing.

Perhaps your dog has a health issue or is on a medication that makes him not want to eat. She's under a vet's care, but the task of getting cusine into her falls on you. Now what? First, understand that the less a dog eats, the less he Wants to eat. Add to that the dog who comes to associate food with nausea and you have a real problem, so the sooner you can get your dog to Want to eat on his own, the better. So much for the obvious.

We'll start with the simplest remedies and work our way up to a radical solution that worked for one of my dogs. Assuming that your dog is on a high ability feed but still not eating, you may need to go to the next step: making dog food taste even better.

You don't want to make these next foods a daily staple, mostly because the high sodium content of many of them would be contra-indicated for dogs in renal failure or with heart issues (if your dog does have kidney issues, check out a no ifs ands or buts informative web site here.) The following foods have been tried and tested by citizen in the dog fancy and are recommend Only as a means to jump start the appetite in a sick or compromised dog: Sardines, canned cat food, Gerber's baby food - especially turkey or sweet potato, braunschweiger, Limburger Cheese, broth, pureed liver, Dinty Moore Beef Stew, yogurt, cottage cheese/cream cheese, canned mackerel, scrambled eggs with cream cheese, chicken noodle soup - and even this one: hard-boiled eggs smashed up in French Vanilla yogurt, slightly warmed.

Sometimes, you may need to "jump start" an appetite with something so enticing, it's irresistible. Here is the traditional formula for "Satin Balls," one of the most requested recipes on Wellpet, Showdogs-L, VetMed, and other popular e-mail lists for serious dog people:

10 pounds of cheap hamburger meat
1 lg. Box of Total cereal
1 lg. Box oatmeal
1 jar of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil
1 1/4 cup of unsulfured molasses
10 raw eggs And shells
10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin
pinch of salt

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf. Divide the batch into 10 quart freezer bags and freeze.Thaw as needed and feed raw! (This is also a good way to put weight on a skinny dog, increase energy, and to alleviate itchy, flaky skin). This isn't a substitute for meals, it's meant to whet a dog's appetite. If the dog is eating this eagerly, start mixing it with kibble gradually. The idea is to wean them off the Satin Balls and onto kibble.

Next, we move on to "fixes" that come in a tube or pill. Remember that the point of these products is to stimulate an appetite and are not long term solutions; We start with Re-Vita whose products are said to be effective for question appetites; "Pet-Tinic" is a liquid dietary supplement containing iron, copper and 5 critical vitamins. The palable meat-flavored liquid is effortlessly acceptable and one "tester" reported that it brought back her pet's appetite approximately immediately, Because of its contents, you'll want to have your vet's approval before using this. "Nutri-Cal" is pure cusine that squeezes out like toothpaste; dogs like its taste and it's a quick way to get cusine into a dog. When diluted with water, Dyne High Calorie Dietary Supplement can be used to combat dehydration and supply power because each ounce provides approximately 150 fat containing vitamins and minerals that enunciate constant therapeutic blood levels.

If none of the aforementioned tips work, this is where I get pretty serious because my own religious doctrine is that a lack of appetite is a lousy reckon for a dog to die. What you'll read next isn't pleasant - but if you love your dog, you have to get cusine into her. As far as I know, there are four ways to do this when the dog can't eat on his own: syringe food into the dog's mouth, stuff food down the dog's throat, hook the dog up to an Iv, or insert a stomach tube. I've done all of them at one time or another. And they all stink, but they're preferable to the alternative: a dog who wastes away and dies.

Syringing: You'll need a consolidate of large syringes from your vet. Using canned food; decide the number your dog needs to sustain his weight, divide that number in half and spoon that much into a blender (you and this blender will become inseparable over the coming days). Add enough warm water to blend no ifs ands or buts into a very fine puree and for each meal, moderately syringe the puree into the side of the dog's lips. Or, you can cut to the chase. Pry the dog's mouth open and squeeze the syringe plunger down so that the food trickles to the side and back of the dog's mouth. It takes a bit of time to get the hang of this since you don't want the dog to aspirate food into his lungs. Speak to the dog soothingly and praise him when you're done. Remember, it's not the dog's fault he's unable to eat and it's only temporary until the appetite comes back.

Stuffing: This was my least popular means of getting food into a dog. It was messy and degrading. In a nutshell, you make "food bombs" that are narrow enough to slide down the back of the dog's throat. These "bombs" are a mixture of wet & dry food that's been pureed into a texture that allows shaping. There are folks out there who are no ifs ands or buts good at doing this - and some dogs who just don't eat well become so used to eating this way that they'll stand calmly, lift up their exiguous heads and open their mouths like guppies in expectation for the next "bomb." Since all we care about is getting cusine into the dog, if this works for you, that's what counts.

Iv: A "no brainer." At this point, a dog is so ill that this is pretty much the last resort. It's no substitute for the fat gotten from real food, but sometimes it serves as a band-aid until the dog is back on its feet and able to eat the real thing.

Stomach tube: Proverbially speaking, this is what separates the men from the boys. When I was faced with a dog whose heart medication caused anorexia but who was otherwise healthy, I had but exiguous selection to pull out all the stops. Syringe feeding, food bombs - these were not long term solutions. Guided by my vet, we made an informed decision to insert a stomach tube. Mind you, at the time we concept it would be a short term fix until my dog ate on his own. Keep reading.

The first tube put in was an ugly, brown rubber tube that was So long, it had to be wrapped colse to my dog's mid section and secured with a lady's tube top when not in use. I prepared the food as if I was going to syringe it into my dog's mouth, only it was syringed into a tube that had been inserted into his side over the stomach. In less than a week, the dog knew the sound of the blender, knew what was coming and would lie down on his side in preparing for his meal.

Each day before I approached the blender, I all the time offered the dog his meal in a bowl since it was my fondest desire that the dog eat like a dog. After many weeks, however, I knew this wasn't going to happen. Ever. At this point, my vet and I had a frank seminar about options and he mentioned a permanent tube, one inserted from the inside out. The "Bard" was a gastronomy expedient made of silicon that was successfully used to feed disabled children but had never been used in canines. My nearly 14 year old Puli would be the first dog to have the slick silicon "button" inserted. It fit flush against his stomach and a exiguous "lid" flicked open like the flip-top part of a tube of toothpaste. Compared to what I had been working with, it was a Porsche compared to an Edsel and no one else ever knew it was there.

The tube enabled my dog to live a consolidate of more years. Feeding him took less than five minutes and afterwards, he would run with the other dogs, bark into the wind, enjoy the sun on his back and know that I adored him. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Because of the seemingly radical step we took to ensure this dog's survival, it wasn't something I discussed openly. Too many citizen out there feel that if a dog can't eat on his own, he's not meant to live. To them I say, "Phooey." The dog wanted to live, to survive and feel the hand of those who loved him rubbing his ears. But he couldn't eat. His spirit was willing and he would have done anything to please me, but this one thing he couldn't do. How then, was I to deny him the one thing I could do to help him?

Cats: Needless to say, cats are not like dogs. They can get liver damage from not eating even for just a day or two. When a cat stops eating, their body will start to use its fat stores as fuel. The old fat stores are mobilized to the liver, which should begin fat burning. But when the fat arrives at the liver, the liver doesn't burn the fat efficiently and it accumulates in the liver.

The resulting liver disorder is known as "hepatic lipidosis", or "fatty liver disease." This health may be recommend when blood tests show impaired liver function. Getting fatty liver disease is not isolated only to cats, and fasting cats don't all the time get this condition, they just seem more prone to it when they don't eat.

But according to the Cornell Online Consultant, there are 454 more inherent Diagnoses for Feline Anorexia. Wow. A good web site you can visit here explains the separate reasons a cat might not be eating, from acid stomach to ulcers and together with fatty liver disease. The lowest line, however,is that you have less "wiggle room" when a cat won't eat. Tries these tips:

-Warm the food because warmed food has a stronger smell which will make a cat want to eat.
-Handfeeding: Sit with your cat and talk to her. Offer a exiguous piece of food to her.
-Offer extra treats like canned or pouched food instead of dry kibble.
-Offer tuna and cheese or milk or cream, all in small amounts.
-Tasty liquids, like water from tuna packed in water or, rarely, oil. Avoid tuna packed in vegetable broth as itmay comprise onions. Try clam juice or low-salt chicken broth. Avoid onions and anything made with bouillan as it's too salty;
-Sprinkle some catnip on the food.

Pull out all the stops and make some Home Made Cat Food with this recipe:
Switch off the protein sources with each batch or two. Switch between:
- Half Pound of minced boneless chicken breast or thigh
- Six Ounces of dark-mean ground turkey or minced turkey
- Half Pound of lean, minced beef
- Half Pound of minced beef, chicken or turkey heart. About three times a week, comprise one chopped hard-boiled or scrambled egg. Occasionally substitute a five-ounce can of salmon or tuna for the meat. Avoid canned salmon or tuna for cats that are prone to urinary tract infections.

Mix foods together.

There are some drugs that can help stimulate a cat's appetite together with Diazepam (Valium). Other drugs to ask your vet about are Periactin (generic name Cyproheptadine), Serax (generic name Oxazepam) and Dalmane (generic name Flurazepam). All have inherent side effects so it's important to talk with your vet.

Syringe feeding and feeding tubes as mentioned in the section for dogs is also an selection for cats.

Good luck and know that you're not alone. Feeding issues are among the most frustrating of concerns.

Option 1) Publishing straight through an Agency

The Process

The first step to salvage time whilst publishing is production sure that you avoid writing something that will never be read! My advice to anyone who aspires to release something is to find a literary agent. This is a great time saver as, when you have an agent, you will never again waste time writing something that may be defined as 'unmarketable'. To supplementary by comparison - the literary network is very closely knit i.e. In order to have your book published; you would need to go straight through exact channels. A definite system has been designed to articulate a sense of order in the realm of literature. Now, an agent can help you weave your way straight through the system - especially if you are a first timer.

An agent is an personel who is able to help you straight through much of the data filtering process. A advice from an agent practically guarantees that your manuscript will be read by a publishing house.

Essentially, the role of an agent is to read and approve your manuscript or any ideas that you may have i.e. Queries and proposals. The agent will then resolve whether your venture could be successful. If so, the agent will supplementary to draw up a contract with you. Contracts of this nature commonly express the agent's promise to use his/her best efforts to get your manuscript into a publishing house - the transfer is commonly about 15% of the entire deal. Your new agent will then work very hard to sell your idea.

Agent Hunting

There are commonly 2 types of agents - those who work with fiction and those who work with non-fiction. The easiest way to find your match is by paging straight through a publishing guide/directory, which lists the functions of a collection of agents in great detail i.e. 'Guide to Literary Agents'. It is foremost to take note of any former books that have been published by the agent/s that you are interested in - commonly an agent will take interest in a single theme, and stick to working with ideas along its lines.

Contacting an Agent

Once you have compiled a list of potential agents, feel free to start contacting them. The best way to do this is via a query letter. In essence, a query letter a short introduction of yourself and your idea - it should feed the agent sufficient data to arouse interest, but not too much to bore him/her. This is a suggested letter structure:

  • The Teaser
  • Your introduction is commonly the aspect of the letter sells you - so make it an attentiveness grabber. Ideally, you would want to narrate the compelling fit between the person that you are and your idea for a book.
  • Develop Your Idea
  • Use your next few sentences to discover your idea, explaining what it is that you want to write about. Feel free to add in a snip-bit of your writing that best exemplifies your idea.
  • Self Description
  • Your third paragraph should be based on you. Try to reiterate the relationship between you as a person and your idea. You should also feel free to show-off your academic or intellectual achievements.
  • Wrapping Up
  • Be sure to personalize your final sentence- production the agent feel unique and considerable to you in your option process. End by sharing your touch details and favorite method of communication.

Remember, this letter is merely an 'appetizer' so keep it short and simple.

Proposal Preparation

After sending your preliminary query letter to an agent, he/she would commonly corollary up by requesting a proposal. Essentially, your proposal is a document that accurately outlines an idea for a book. Here's idea of what your proposal should contain:

  • The Overview
  • The first 2 pages of your proposal should comprise a broad overview of the book. Non-fiction: by comparison your intentions in terms of contents and topics. Fiction: provide a normal form of your plot.
  • Target Market
  • Your next 3 pages should comprise a narrative of your prospective target market. You should define this in terms of; age, socio-economic, and educational characteristics of you potential audience.
  • market Threat and Competition
  • This section allows you to define what type of threats your book may face in terms of competitors and other books that cover a similar topic. Be right to do all your homework here, because this section is easily foremost to an agent as it dictates your books marketability.
  • Authorship
  • Use this section to write up a brief narrative about yourself and your co-authors, if any. Take this opportunity to brag as much as possible, as this section will help your agent convince a publishing house to pay you for your idea.
  • Summary of Chapters
  • This should be the largest part of your proposal - it contains an form of what you intend to cover in each episode of your book. Non-fiction: provide a minimum whole of data i.e. Outlines. Fiction: provide exact samples of your writing.
  • Delivery
  • This section is relatively small - it naturally contains the whole of words you think your complete book will comprise and the approximate time you will take to write it.

Contracts

Happy Day! So your proposal finally earns you a thumbs up...now what? It's time to get into some paper work. The best part about this section is that you are not bearing the work load anymore. Your new agent will now send you a contract.

These contracts are commonly short documents that you can probably work though on your own, so no need for an attorney. You just need be right about two things - firstly, that your agent is not finding to exclusively record you for over 12 months, and secondly that you are not going to billed for the cost of office overhead if your book does not do well on the market.

Once the contract has been signed, your agent will send you a copy of your primary proposal with a few editorial suggestions. As soon as you finalize your proposal's contents, your agent will start pitching your idea to the 'big boys' i.e. Publishing companies. Once you get the go-ahead as well as the funding, feel free to start writing...Microsoft Word will be your new home!

Option 2) Mainstream Publication

The Process

This option is slightly similar to the first; however the two do have a few minor differences. The primary discrepancy is that the 'middle man' or agent is no longer involved i.e. The first step that you need to take in the field of mainstream publication, is directly locating a publisher. Once again, you can feel free to look straight through a publishing directory or make use of a search engine. This way, you can select a publisher, that best suits you.

As soon as you have made touch with a publishing house and managed to spark a bit of interest, you might be requested to 'pitch' your book to the business in person.

The Pitch & Self Marketing

Now if think yourself to be a great group speaker, this could be your occasion to shine - if not, just remember that you will only be speaking to a few suits!

The pitch is practically a verbal explanation of all you would express in a proposal - if you happen to be unfamiliar with the guidelines for a proposal, naturally corollary the form mentioned in option 1.

If you select to release via mainstream publication, it is foremost to note that you must be able to market yourself. Even if you do get lucky and a publishing house chooses to release your book, you will still have to do a major part of the marketing - keep that in mind when it comes to your budget as it will help to have some supplementary money to use for publicity.

Risks/Benefits

The clear benefit of publishing via a mainstream business is the potential exposure that you and your book could attain. On a large scale, the scope of discrete mainstream publication houses extends from local to international.

The most risk involved in using this method of publication, is the risk of rejection. You may even be rejected before publication as well as after. It is not often that a customary publishing business would risk a dollar on an unknown author - so put in order yourself for potential rejection after your pitch. Even if your book does get approved for publication, rejection is still a factor in terms of your book's marketability and it is very unlikely that your publisher will pick up the bill should your book not be successful.

Option 3) Self Publishing - (Pod) Print/Publish on Demand

The Process

This option refers to printing a book at the time of purchase. It is an innovative method of publishing books that saves money, time and supplies. The printing industry is ecstatic about this method of publication as it means that books no longer need to be warehoused until purchased.

This method of publication allows you to handle the found work of your book or opt for a service/package that offers cover design, formatting and editing. Do a search for 'self publishing' publishing clubs that will assist you in the areas that you may need help - from the time that your book has been ordered to the delivery. The Pod will easily help you list your book on Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com and other major bookstores by hooking you up with an Isbn.

Here's how the process works:

  • Submit the final draft of your book to a business that offers Pod. Make sure your draft is formatted in the way that you want it to look in its final publication.
  • You will be requested to wait until your file has been added to the data system of that company.
  • The printing business receives an order for your book according to its Isbn.
  • An operator at the printing business accesses your file in their system. Ensuring all editing and formatting is correct; the book is released to the printer and binder system. Your book is printed in less than 5 minutes.
  • Your book is then packaged and addressed to the customer. It is then sent directly to the customer. This entire process takes practically 10 working days - thus your book can hit the market as soon as possible.

Budget

While this type of publishing has become increasingly popular in the industry, it is foremost to note that it requires you fork out a bit of your own money - each book will cost you practically .

Risks/Benefits

This option has discrete benefits. Firstly, most of the clubs involved will accept any type of work, no matter who you are - so rejection is not something that you will have to worry about. Secondly, if you are involved with the found and formatting personally, your book automatically will gain a unique edge. Finally, the Pod handles distribution and order fulfilment. This means that when you book has been ordered; the Pod will print a copy of your book, ship it and pay you a royalty of practically 30% of the purchase price - leaving you with less grey hair!

With regards to the risks involved, it is foremost to note that the owner of the Isbn also owns the book's copyright, so be right with that and make sure that you purchase your book's Isbn under your name, not the vanity publisher.

Option 4) Local Publishing clubs

The Process

Local industrial printing clubs use the same technology as Pods. Feel free to browse straight through a publishing directory or just your local directory for a list of clubs that offer publishing services. Your next step is to touch the publishing house that you have chosen.

Budget

While prices may vary, expect to pay 3 cents per black and white page i.e. A 200-page book could cost you practically .50.

Print Style Options

Your first option in terms of printing style is between color printing and black & white printing. This will dictate the cost that you will need to budget for. Most clubs offer digital printing, so you can select the whole of copies that you want printed at the time of publication. In terms of cover design, you are only little by your own creativity - once again you are free to take charge of your own design. Binding on the other hand, will be handled by the business and is included in the primary price per page.

Risks/Benefits

When you release straight through a local company, you must take note that the printer will print easily what you send - this is without any correction or editing. It is crucial that your book is proofread before submission. Also with this option, you will still have to promote your book, fill and ship all orders.

Option 5) eBook Publication

What is an eBook?

An eBook is an electronic copy of your book that may be purchased, downloaded and read immediately online. It can serve a collection of purposes i.e. Advertising, the conferrence of potential customer's data and the generation of interest. Not only does this option provide the media for a sample publication of you incomplete book, but it also allows for full publication of your book once it is unblemished - thus you can sell the electronic version of your book, as if it were a hard copy.

The Process

This option may be deemed the most convenient and frugal way to release a book. Here is a basic form of the process:

  • The Final Draft
  • To put in order you book for eBook publication, you have to format it exactly the way that you want your readers to see it. This will be easy if you are using a word processor such as Microsoft Word.
  • The Format
  • Unless you know exactly what you want in terms of formatting, I propose that you stick to a standardised type of book formatting - the form of a manuscript format is included later on in this article.
  • Proofreading
  • Sorry to say, editing will be your worst bad dream - just when you think that it's over, go back and proofread again and again. Also try and get others to read your final draft too. Don't skimp on the ability of your writing naturally because you are publishing electronically.
  • Copyrighting
  • Copyrighting your book is your next move. Don't stress out too much about the Isbn, as you are easily the publisher now, so you will be in charge of the distribution and price setting.
  • Designing the Cover
  • If you happen to have an arty side, this is your opportunity to bring it out! Feel free to expand your creativity but remember to keep your design, approved with regards to your book's contents. You can also make use of external services should you need help i.e. Graphic designers do freelance their services for this type of thing.
  • Publication
  • Now it easily gets interesting...There are discrete programs ready that create self-executable eBooks. It is however foremost to note that most people are cautious when it comes to downloading new programs. I therefore propose that you release your eBook in plain old .pdf format. Adobe Acrobat Reader is a well established brand which is both safe and also free for anyone to download. Visit Adobe Online and register for their online Pdf creator to release an ebook or feel free to do a Google search for a few more eBook publishing programs.
  • Your Account
  • Set up a business account with an ecommerce site like PayPal. You will then have to add your book's Isbn to your 'product list'. PayPal will then create an html code that you can copy and paste where ever you would like to promote your eBook. You will in turn be notified via email, when person purchases your book. Your last move is to reply to that email by attaching the .pdf of your book and sending the mail directly to your customer...and voila! Your first eBook is sold.

Risks/Benefits

There are discrete benefits linked to this new wave of publication. Firstly, it requires you to spend little to no money out of your own pocket. Thus, there is very little financial risk involved. Secondly, your book can be published from the relax of your own home...a few clicks here and there is all that it takes. Finally, from a marketing perspective, an eBook opens up discrete avenues for advertising - it allows you to add links within your book, directing the reader in any place that you would like i.e. This gives you a opportunity to improve your business network. Once again, you must remember that you are in charge of your book's marketing.

Irrespective of the method of publication that you choose, you will need to devotee manuscript writing...Here's a handy guide on how to correctly format your manuscript.
Try to make use of this type of formatting prior to submitting it to an agent or publisher. At first view you may think that these standards may not be aesthetically pleasing, but don't stress, your publisher should send your primary manuscript to a 'formatter' that standardizes the format during publication.
Basic Formatting Rules

  • Use 1 inch margins colse to all your text - repeat this on each page.
  • Double spacing should be used throughout your manuscript. This type of spacing enhances your manuscripts readability and makes it easier to edit.
  • If you want to italicize something, don't do it now. Only feature this before the final version is published - anyone that you want in italics should be underlined in your manuscript.
  • All numbers should be spelt out i.e. Type out four instead of 4.
  • Most symbols should also be spelt out i.e. Don't use the '%' sign, instead type out 'percent'.

Life After Publication

So now you are well on your way to publishing success you may wonder what life is like after you release a book? Well whether you've completed your first or your twentieth title- the thinking endurance required to squeeze out the finishing touches of your book as well as the proofreading and designing of your cover, should have earned you a well deserved break...I propose that you now time to enjoy a little back patting and focus on You for a while - take a well deserved break and naturally Relax!

Most hard-workers easily find the state of freedom rather difficult to perform after writing a book. The buzz of the covering world is always a contributing factor to the build up of anxiety, even when one is not stressed out about anyone at all. If you're having trouble relaxing after your creative outpouring, here are a few quick tips that may help you out...

  • Breathing
  • This is a 2-Step method of breathing - Start by filling the lowest of your lungs first and then adding air to the top as you breathe only straight through your nose. Exhale slowly and feel the tension flowing out.
  • Tense-Relax Muscles
  • Decide which muscle you want to relax and then tighten that muscle. Feel the tension on the tightened muscle. Now let the muscle become loose and limp. Feel the freedom flow into the muscle. You can do a series of these, on different muscles.
  • Limp Rag Doll
  • Do the 2-Step method of breathing two times. With your mind dream that all the bones in your body have melted. Feel your mind and body become limp and relaxed.
  • Mind Quieting
  • To begin you need to focus on your breathing. When you inhale, slowly say 'I am' and when you exhale say, 'calm'. When your mind feels calm you may focus only on your breathing, with no thoughts at all.

So now that you have learnt a few freedom exercises you should be well on your way to a few days of thinking and bodily bliss...Even though your book is now on its way to mass production, you need not let your freedom duration be short lived - don't become overridden with anxiety about publicity, marketing and even worse, sales!

For a stress free way to boost sales and keep abreast of your new book's carrying out you should think subscribing to a promotions and sales tracking company.

With modern publishing methods, like self-publishing and eBook publication in mind, it is easy to understand why sales tracking has become a base pastime for most writers. The relationship between Indigestion and Breathing Problems

When man is diagnosed with Gerd or acid reflux disease, they are already well aware of many of the symptoms. They probably feel upset stomach, acid pain in the esophagus and throat, and they may already know that they need to adjust their diet, eat smaller meals and take some form of medication. What might surprise them is that there are other impacts that Gerd can have, and one of those factors is the lungs. There are many citizen that have indigestion and breathing has come to be a problem for them. When a man isn't aware of the connection between Gerd and breathing things can come to be very scary.

Most patients are aware that acid from the stomach can back up into the throat, mouth and even make it as far as the sinuses. What many don't realize however, is that it can seep into the lungs as well (called aspiration), causing damage and bringing on a host of problems.

Lung Aspiration

People suffering with uncontrolled reflux often feel wheezing and other breathing difficulties, and they may go through a myriad of tests that are inconclusive until the reflux and lung connection is found. Most citizen with Gerd know they have it, but there is a small percentage that have no idea it is a problem for them, and that makes the connection harder to find.

The stomach is adequate to deal with its own acid, but the other parts of the body are not. Even so, there can be damage in the stomach from the acid. This regularly is found in the form of an ulcer. Though acid causes damage to the esophagus it can handle it in small doses, with damage occurring only over time.

The lungs, however, are very vulnerable when acid reaches the tissues, and damage will follow quickly. The larynx (or voice box) will be the first place with noticeable damage. The larynx performs the role of opening and conclusion to allow air into the lungs.

People with acid intriguing through the voice box might feel coughing, a rough voice, and some pain in the area. When the acid leaks into the lungs (usually while lying down at night) the lungs react to protect themselves from the caustic substance.

Normally, in wholesome lungs there are small hair-like cilia lining the lungs that helps move toxins and mucus out of the lungs keeping them clean. However, when acid is present the cilia will be supplanted with a increase much like the lining of the esophagus to protect the lungs. When this happens, the lungs struggle to achieve their self-cleaning role like they regularly do, and breathing problems are a result.

Left untreated, lung problems can come to be very serious. Infections can institute and turn into pneumonia and it can also trigger asthma. If left untreated, this can lead to serious and permanent damage to the lungs.

For more data on recognizing and treating acid reflux, heartburn and Gerd symptoms simply sign up for the free newsletter below.

When it comes to indigestion and breathing problems, there should be immediate rehabilitation to get the acid reflux under control. Though heartburn might seem like an inconvenience at first, it is best to get it treated as soon as possible before the acid causes irreversible damage to other systems and organs of the body. Medications can clear things up in early cases, but other intervention might be requisite for severe cases and to get to the root cause of why the reflux occurred in the first instance.

The relationship between Indigestion and Breathing ProblemsAidan McSpadden - Happy 2nd Birthday Aidan Video Clips. Duration : 3.92 Mins.

Welcome to Angels for Aidan How the Journey began . . . The McSpadden family made a visit to the pulmonologist at the Texas Childrens Clinical Care unit on June 18, 2010 after battling a flu virus and mild pneumonia for about a week. The doctor felt like little Aidan's breathing was rapid and the x-ray showed a slight pneumonia in the left lung, so she admitted him to the hospital to get some fluids and antibiotics. The admission process took us through the ER, where labs were drawn. The doctors came in to tell Kelli and I the blood test came back abnormal. This obviously raised a concern with us when she stated that his white blood cell count came back extremely high. They then resent the blood work to be tested again. Upon completion of the retest, we were told that Aidan had Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). We were then admitted to the ICU to get the infection under control. Later that evening, one of the head oncologist stopped by to inform us that some of the additional tests were inconclusive for a diagnosis of AML. After 5 days of testing and still not knowing if our son had cancer, doctors confirmed AML through bone marrow aspiration. For those of you who do not know us, our son Aidan, who is only 17 months old, has been the joy of our life. We were still in shock and spent most of the first two days praying and crying. Through the tremendous support of family, friends, coworkers, and even those who we have not had the pleasure of meeting, we have started on a path ...

Histoplasmosis In Dogs - Symptoms and rehabilitation

Histoplasmosis in dogs is a non-contagious infection which is caused by the fungi, Histoplasma capsulatum. The organism thrives in the soil particularly in moist and humid conditions. It abounds in organic matter such as bat and bird droppings which are rich in nitrogen.

There are some predisposing factors which have been connected with increased incidence of Histoplasmosis in dogs. Young dogs are at higher risks of acquiring the disease. Dog breeds which are prone to developing Histoplasmosis comprise brittanys, pointers, and weimaraners.

Lung Aspiration

Histoplasmosis is acquired by inhalation of airborne spores. The organism localizes in the lungs to multiply and spread to other organs of the body via the circulatory system. Aside from dogs, the infection can also sway cats and humans. Just like dogs, cats and humans accumulate infection via inhalation of spores and not straight through direct experience of infected animals.

Most dogs with Histoplasmosis suffer from the subclinical form of the disease thus they fail to show any clinical manifestation. In severe cases, the symptoms which are manifested will depend on the organ system/s which has been affected. Histoplasmosis in dogs often affects the respiratory and digestive tracts. In some cases, it may cause a systemic infection when the causative agent is widely distributed throughout the dog's body systems.

The most base clinical manifestations include-general malaise accompanied by a lack of appetite and weight loss. Straining and diarrhea are also common. Histoplasma infection in the lungs is manifested by coughing and abnormal lung sounds which indicates problems in respiration. A dog's lymph nodes may be enlarged and the mucus membranes of the mouth and other parts of the body appear pale. There may also be lameness and fever. If the infection has reached the liver, there may be jaundice wherein the body tissues appear to have a yellowish tinge. The spleen and liver may also appear enlarged.

Together with clinical signs, a precise diagnosis is achieved by conducting some diagnostic tests to detect the presence of Histoplasma capsulatum and compare the result of the infection on the body. Your vet may recommend any of the following tests to hold the introductory diagnosis -complete blood count, biochemistry profile, urinalysis, x-rays, fine needle aspiration, eye exam, biopsy, serologic tests, and fungal culture.

The treatment of option for Histoplasmosis in dogs includes the long term use of oral antifungal drugs itraconazole or fluconazole. Some respiratory infections connected with Histoplasmosis may not want treatment because the animal is able to get rid of the infection on its own. treatment is often victorious if the diagnosis has been made in the early phases of the disease before the dog has industrialized serious complications.

There is no vaccine that can protect your dog against Histoplasmosis. The best way to protect your dog is to prevent it from roaming in areas where the fungus is known to be present. Places where populations of birds, poultry or bats are gift should also be avoided.

We all set our New Year resolutions in January, but we can look at bringing new things into our life at any time. Getting rid of all those things that no longer sustain you is the first step in having the life you of course want. Clutter to most citizen is normally those bodily things that you have kept over from many years reasoning one day you may find a use for it. Any way it is a lot more than that, and includes relationships, time commitments and other things that unnecessarily take up a lot of your energy.

Now is as good a time as any to look at your own life. Ask yourself why you are retention on to something. What are you resisting giving up? What are you afraid of letting go? Just dream all the goodness that is just itching to come into your life.

The great benefit of cleaning up your life is that it boosts your power levels. Go straight through your whole house, and settle what to throw out, give away, store, sell or keep. A good rule of thumb is to get rid of all you of course don't need or haven't used in the last 12 months. Start your clutter clearing, one small area in one room at a time, and then zap the rest.

Also, remember it is vital to not let the clutter build up again. So assign a home to all that you wish to keep.

A great time to clear your clutter is when you move home. I did 6 months ago and it was so liberating to move into a new space with very few items. The challenge for me now is to keep it clutter free - I fiercely go round my home at the end of each month, and discard a few items every time. It can feel so great to let go of things.

Here are some safe bet actions for you to take on this week:

1. Gather your old clothes and knick knacks and take them to any of the varied charity shops in your area. Alternatively, give the items to man who you know needs them.

2. Go straight through your kitchen cupboards and discard all those old tins that have been there for years. Empty the fridge of out of date half used jars. You will be amazed at what you will find!

3. Be ruthless with your commitments to other people. It is great to have many friends, but gently let go of the ones that drain you or those that no longer sustain your life style and aspirations.

4. Clear up some of the things that rob you of your time. Watch less Tv and go out in the open a bit more. Just feel that fresh air in your lungs.

5. Have some fun whilst clutter clearing, and do bonus yourself afterwards.

The great thing about clearing the clutter in your life is that other areas of your life will start benefiting in no time.

Pneumonia and the Necessity of Hospitalization

Pneumonia is a tasteless type of pulmonary disease that involves inflammation and infection of the lungs, triggering an overproduction of mucus at the level of the respiratory tract. By reducing the estimate of unnecessary hospitalizations among nursing home residents with pneumonia, both patients and doctors may advantage from the process. Furthermore, judging from a financial point of view, avoidance of unnecessary hospitalization can save up to 1.500 dollars per patient.

In order to determine the necessity of hospitalization among nursing home residents with pneumonia, a group of Canadian researchers has recently conducted a study that complicated the collaboration of 20 nursing homes. Half of these institutions were asked to succeed their usual healing care procedures, while the others were asked to succeed the instructions imposed by the researchers. Thus, when they were confronted with cases of pneumonia among residents, each group of nursing homes followed a different approach: the usual care group transferred patients with pneumonia to the hospital, while the referential group followed the imposed guidelines before deciding upon hospitalization.

The established guidelines required nursing home residents with carport conditions to receive the rehabilitation of pneumonia inside the nursing home. Residents that didn't meet the established criteria (presented with complications or had unstable conditions) were transferred to the hospital. The referential group complicated the participation of 327 nursing home residents with pneumonia, while the usual care group included 353 residents with pneumonia. During the study, only 10 percent, respectively 22 percent of the residents in the two groups were ultimately hospitalized. By the end of the study, the researchers closed that residents in both groups responded similarly to the rehabilitation of pneumonia, regardless of healing regimen. Thus, the study has confirmed the fact that hospitalization can be avoided for nursing home residents diagnosed with mild, simple forms of pneumonia.

Generalized appliance of the Canadian researchers' guidelines with regard to the necessity of hospitalization among nursing home residents with pneumonia can considerably sacrifice healing care costs. Researchers familiarize that by reducing the estimate of unnecessary hospitalization among residents with pneumonia, the costs savings would be colse to 70 million Us dollars for Canada and up to 800 million Us dollars for the United States each year.
